IC Application Engineer

This role is part of an application engineering team tasked with developing and implementing post-silicon test and validation programs for chip solutions tailored to high-speed data interfaces in advanced process nodes. The emphasis is on timely delivery, design quality, and customer orientation.


Candidates should possess a B.S./M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a focus on hardware design.


  • Evaluate high-speed intellectual property (IP) in both test and customer chips to ensure compliance with product and quality requirements.
    Conduct signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis and measurements during the development of PCBs and chip packages to support the IC design team. Enhance and maintain the software and hardware components of laboratory setups.
  • Develop and refine application board specification documents.
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive post-silicon test and validation plans.
  • Collaborate closely with IC design teams and cross-functional groups to facilitate a successful and timely product release.
  • Provide customer support for the setup and validation of integrated IP, including a willingness to engage in international travel.


  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuits, PCB design, signal integrity, and power integrity.
  • Characterization of mixed-signal circuits in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience in using advanced test instruments for SI/PI analysis (e.g., high-speed scope, VNA, TDR, spectrum analyzer).
  • Proficiency with electrical simulation tools (e.g., Ansys) and PCB design software.
  • Programming proficiency (e.g., Scala, Python, Go) is advantageous.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus.


  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience, including internships.
  • Hands-on experience in a lab and soldering is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Cadence Allegro/Capture is an additional asset.
