Automation Engineer

A Steel Manufacturer located outside of Corpus Cristi, TX is growing their team!

  • Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, conduct maintenance, implement modifications, and drive continuous improvement for automated control systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize existing equipment, developing control specifications for functions, user interfaces, and quality control to ensure high reliability.
  • Enhance manufacturing efficiency through workflow analysis, space requirement planning, and equipment layout optimization.
  • Support and execute commissioning duties for internally supported projects, including system validation, training, and documentation.
  • Source and oversee external integration contractors to meet project deliverables in terms of cost, timeline, and equipment performance.
  • Research new equipment and processes to align with company initiatives of increasing market share and reducing costs.
  • Ensure equipment operability by coordinating maintenance and repair services, adhering to manufacturer's instructions and established procedures, and arranging special services when necessary.
  • Manage automation projects, including the approval process, equipment/material procurement, installation, and start-up.
  • Implement safety measures within systems to eliminate or control potential hazards, maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Plant Engineer.


  • Strategic mindset with strong technical skills, analytical ability, problem-solving proficiency, operational focus, and creative thinking.
  • Extensive technical knowledge in engineering and product development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, fostering constructive business relationships and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in utilizing computerized business systems, technology, and other relevant platforms.
  • Willingness to travel overnight as required.


  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience, with training in electrical engineering, automation, or equivalent electrical training.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in programmable logic controllers (PLCs) with experience in related programming and ladder logic.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
